Jose Fernandez plays (as a young man) the favorite son of Don Tomás (Joaquín Núñez), the town gravedigger, who, following the death of Doña Matilde Cisneros (María Alfonsa Rosso), and sent by his father, is forced to collect payment for the services rendered. The plot revolves around Doña Matilde Cisneros’s (Rosso) family, which harbors family secrets and hidden inheritances, turning the town of Aljarria in the summer of 1971 into a pressure cooker from which no one is safe.
