José Fernández is part of the main cast of *Who Will Cry for Me*, a feature film nominated for the Lorca Awards in Granada that will be shown at the Megarama theaters in Granada on November 23 at 6:00 p.m.
Starring Ana Fernández, Julio Vélez, Laura Toledo, Jaime Pérez, and José Fernández; directed by Paco Izquierdo and produced by Catorce Jota, Alma Pícara, Libertonia Producciones, and OMG
Synopsis:
San is a young man with an intellectual disability. He is socially integrated thanks to María, his mother, a teacher who has dedicated her life to ensuring that San can lead a life similar to that of others. When María is diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and given only a few months to live, she sets out to plan her son’s future without her. It is then Luisa, her daughter and San’s older sister, who must take on the role of caregiver. With María’s death, San’s life is thrown into disarray, ushering in a new era in which nothing is as María had imagined.
Filmed in Loja, Montefrío, and various locations in western Granada, and produced by Catorce Jota, Alma Pícara, Libertonia Producciones, and OMG, the film sensitively explores unconditional love, family, and resilience in the face of loss, establishing itself as one of the most notable works in recent Andalusian cinema. The nomination for the Lorca Awards in Granada underscores the project’s significance and the artistic merit of the cast.
The film is now preparing for its release in commercial theaters and is scheduled to hit theaters across Spain in 2026, thus capping off its festival run and establishing itself as one of next year’s most anticipated Andalusian releases.
