Jose Fernández premieres Alfonso Zurro's "Winter in Seville."

Actor Jose Fernandez will perform a dramatic reading of Alfonso Zurro’s play “Winter in Seville” on October 6 at the Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País in Málaga.

Synopsis:

One night, in Plaza Nueva, amid that peace of silence and armed order, a robbery takes place. We are in front of Seville City Hall, on the site where the Monastery of San Francisco once stood centuries ago. You might hear the footsteps of a passerby returning home late, the street sweepers’ hoses, and—if you listen closely—the relaxed chatter of some workers from the Hotel Inglaterra, who are wrapping up their shift at the door. Right next door, at the Hotel Cecil-Oriente in Seville: a scream, people running. Two police officers on duty hear it and rush over. There is a brief scuffle in the lobby between the officers and the robbers. One of them falls, mortally wounded. But this will not be the only crime. The Military Authority intervenes. It has been an unusual assault; someone speaks of hooded men with submachine guns. Witnesses corroborate this. The body has no apparent wound. The fatal bullet is nowhere to be found.

This reading will be directed by Eduardo Duro and performed by Manuel Navarro, Mari Carmen Fernández, Antonio Caparrós, Andrés Gálvez, and Jose Fernández.

Admission will be free until capacity is reached and the author will be in attendance.
